Lieutenant Matthew Toner
Lieutenant Matthew Toner was born in Willingboro, NJ in 1985. He was raised in Delran, NJ and graduated from Delran High School in 2003. He attended Burlington County College and received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
Lt. Toner is a 15 year veteran of the Willingboro Police Department. He received his recruit training at the Burlington County Police Academy, class #91, beginning in April 2006 and graduated in September 2006. He began his career as a patrol officer working both day and night shifts. During this time he has served as a Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, Baton Instructor, OC Instructor, Field Training Officer, and SWAT Team Operator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May 2015 and served as a shift supervisor on both day and night shifts. As a Sergeant, he
was also responsible for the supervision of the Firearms Training Unit, and the Bicycle Unit.
Lt. Toner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October 2021. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division as the Day Watch Commander. Lt. Toner is also an accreditation team member for the department.
