Lieutenant Robert Welch


Lt. Welch moved to Willingboro when he was five years old in 1976 and resided in the Buckingham section of town.  He attended the public school district in Willingboro and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1989.   He was hired in 1998 and attended the 198th New Jersey State Police Municipal Academy.  


Lt. Welch has worked in the Patrol Division for his entire career where he served as an EMT Officer, Accident Investigator, Field Training Officer, and was an original member of the Patrol Rifle Unit. 


Lt. Welch was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2009 where he supervised patrol shifts on both the day shift and night shift.  His additional duties as a sergeant included supervising the EMT

Unit, Accident Investigation Unit, and Bias Incident Liaison Officer.

In 2017, Lt. Welch was promoted to his current rank where he serves as the Watch Commander of the midnight shift and serves as the Department's Domestic Violence Liaison Officer.    


Lt. Welch has received several awards and recognition certificates during his career and received his bachelor degree in business from Rowan University in 2000.
