Captain James McKendrick Jr.


Captain McKendrick began his Law Enforcement career in 1994 as Class II Special Officer with the City of Wildwood, NJ Police Department. He was hired as a Full-Time Police Officer by the Township of Willingboro in January 1997, graduated from the Camden County Police Academy in May of that same year, and was assigned to the Patrol Division. In July of 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and remained in the Patrol Division supervising the both day and midnight shifts. In June of 2013 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Patrol Division Day Watch Commander until January of 2015 when he was reassigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. In March of 2016 he was promoted to his current rank and assigned as the Patrol Division Commander until December of 2017 when was reassigned as the Criminal Investigations and Administration Division Commander.

During his career Captain McKendrick has served the department in many capacities. In 2000 he was selected as a member of the Special Weapons & Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.) where he filled roles as an Operator, Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader and Team Commander until his promotion to Captain in 2016. He has been a certified Field Training Officer (F.T.O) and F.T.O Supervisor. He is a Basic Firearms, Police Service Rifle, Sub-Gun, Taser CEW Instructor and has served as the departmental Supervising Firearms Instructor. Additionally he has been a member of the Bicycle Patrol Unit, Accident Investigation Unit and Honor Guard Unit.


One of the highlights of Captain McKendrick’s career was being selected to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and he is a proud graduate of the 249th Session (2012).


During his off time Captain McKendrick enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two daughters.
